This disk is the Installation disk for Online Bible 5.00.02.
The chief difference between this version and version 5.00 is the
addition of a Terminate and Stay Resident (TSR) program that allows one
to import scripture text from Online Bible 5.00.02 directly into a
Word Processing program while working in that Word Processing program.
To use the TSR, it must be loaded before using the Word Processing
program.
The actual TSR is named $BIBLE.EXE and is located in the \BIBLE sub-
directory. A batch file named $AV.BAT, also located in the \BIBLE
sub-directory, can be used to activate the TSR.
The contents of the $AV.BAT file are:
TSR
$BIBLE C:\BIBLE\AV "Enter Hotkey:" "Enter Passage:"
This assumes that the \BIBLE directory is on drive C: If the \BIBLE
directory is on another drive, susbstitute that drive letter for C.
Allowable HotKeys are: Any non-shifted letter in combination with
either the ALT or CTRL key. Just make sure that you use a combination
that is not already used by your Word Processor.
One way to activate the TSR would be to change to the \BIBLE directory
and type $AV and then press the ENTER key. At that time you will be
allowed to select a HotKey. You will then be returned to the DOS
prompt, at which time you can load your Word Processing program.
Do not try to automatically load the $AV.BAT program in your
AUTOEXEC.BAT file as that will not work. If the contents of the 2nd
line of the $AV.BAT file are used, the program will work normally.
The following example AUTOEXEC.BAT file assumes that your copy of
ONLINE BIBLE 5.00.02 is located in the C:\BIBLE directory.
Example AUTOEXEC.BAT file
Prompt $p$g
Path=C:\;C:\BIBLE
C:\BIBLE\$BIBLE C:\BIBLE\AV "Enter HotKey:" "Enter Passage:"
For persons having QEMM or 386MAX it is possible to have the TSR load
into High Ram (the area between 640k and 1Meg) generally found in 286
and 386 machines. In that case, you will not have any of your 640k
taken up with the TSR. If you can't use High Ram, this TSR will take a
little over 20k of RAM.
This TSR is known to work with:
UED; Word Perfect 5.1; Wordstar 2000; WordStar 4.0, 5.0, and 5.5
Note with Wordstar 4.0, 5.0, and 5.5 you must press the ENTER key
after the hard drive activity has stopped to dump the buffer to
your Wordstar file.
Limitation: This TSR will import a MAXIMUM of 4,000 characters.
